Edo Police Intensify Manhunt For Suspected Rapist

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have begun a manhunt for a suspect identified as Promise for allegedly raping a 13-year-old minor in the Uwa area in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the suspect lured the minor into his room, raped her to a state of unconsciousness, abandoned her, then absconded.
The state command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, while confirming the incident, said the divisional police officer in charge of Adesuwa Police Station, Benin, received a report of defilement on the 27th of March from the mother of the victim who resides along Uwa Street off, Sapele Road Benin.
According to him, the woman reported at the station that her 13-year-old daughter was raped to a state of unconsciousness by one Promise whose surname was yet to be known.
He said the victim was rushed to the Edo State Specialist Hospital for medical attention.
SP Nwabuzor said efforts were ongoing by the police to arrest the fleeing suspect and bring him to justice.
