CCN Confers Award On Gov Fubara Over Peaceful Disposition

Onyinyechi Chukwu, Port Harcourt

The Christian Council of Nigeria CCN, has presented a ‘Pillar of Ecumenism’ award to the Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. CNN explained that the peaceful disposition of the governor and cordial relationship with churches in the state necessitated the award given to him.

The presentation was done at a closed-door discussion with the Fubara at the Government House in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday, where the governor shared the policy thrusts of his administration in the agriculture, health, and education sectors with the leadership of CCN.

Speaking with newsmen, the National President of the Christian body, Most Reverend David Onuoha, who led the delegation explained, “We are so excited, first at his peaceful disposition. For him, peace is central to everything. He is quoted as saying that no sacrifice is too much for the peace of Rivers State. I think that is very commendable.

“We gave him an award as a ‘Pillar of Ecumenism’ because of his peaceful disposition and cordial relationship with churches in this State, irrespective of denominations. So, we felt we should encourage him to do more.

“And again, he has intimated us with his plans of emphasizing agriculture, health, and education. These are very laudable.”

Onuoha who is also the Anglican Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, added that, “We can only pray that God will give him the grace to actualize and implement all these.”
